In Suspension

"In Suspension" is a series of black and white landscapes created in multiple parts and presented at three exhibitions: in 2019, "Black and White Parade" at Atelier Basfroi, in 2023, "Entre Voir" at Galerie Agapé Hub, and then at the Solid’Art Salon at Carreau du Temple. The artist immerses the observer in a universe described as mysterious, misty, wintry, dreamlike, and even post-apocalyptic.

In the first series created in the Jura region, she intervenes on her photographs printed on watercolor paper with a water-soaked brush, thus creating shapes that make each landscape unique. In January 2023, during the "Entre Voir" exhibition, she attempts a new experiment by projecting tin onto landscapes in the Cévennes and Tarragonne regions. The exhibition is a success.

In April 2023, her expedition to the Soufrière volcano in Guadeloupe, where she photographs the active volcano while equipped with a gas mask, gives birth to 14 works exhibited a month later at the Solid’Art salon. Each landscape printed on Turner paper stands out thanks to the metallic projection. Abstract shapes give an additional dimension to the images.

For Anna Marchlewska, these are invisible energies that traverse the horizon, unseen by the human eye. They could be ghostly beings, the souls of our ancestors, a rain of cosmic radiation, a wormhole that would allow time travel or perhaps entry into a parallel world. As a follower of quantum physics, the artist does not exclude the existence of the fourth or fifth dimension.
