In Suspension
“En Suspension” is a series of black and white landscapes produced in several parts and presented during three exhibitions: in 2019, “Black and White Parade” at Atelier Basfroi, in 2023, “Entre Voir” at Galerie Agapé Hub, at the Solid'Art Salon at Carreau du Temple, then in Rome for a personal exhibition. The artist immerses the observer in a universe described as mysterious, foggy, wintery, dreamlike and even post-apocalyptic. In the first series produced in the Jura, she intervenes on her photographs printed on watercolor paper with a brush soaked in water, thus creating shapes which make each landscape unique. In January 2023, on the occasion of the “Entre Voir” exhibition, she tried a new experiment by projecting tin onto landscapes of the Cévennes and Tarragona. The exhibition is a success.
In April 2023, her expedition to Soufrière in Guadeloupe, where she photographed the active volcano equipped with a gas mask, gave birth to the 14 works exhibited a month later at the Solid'Art fair then a few months later in Rome. Each landscape printed on Turner paper stands out thanks to metallic projection.
Abstract shapes give an extra dimension to the images. For Anna Marchlewska, these are energies invisible to the human eye that cross the horizon. Ghostly beings, souls of our ancestors, a shower of cosmic radiation, a wormhole that would allow travel back in time or perhaps to a parallel world. A follower of quantum physics, the artist does not exclude the existence of the fourth or fifth dimension.
