About
Anna Marchlewska, known as ANNA MARCH, is a Polish-born visual artist and photographer based in the Paris region. She entered the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2000, where she worked in Pat Andrea’s figurative painting studio. In 2005, she obtained her diploma in video installation under the guidance of Barbara Leisgen.
After several years working as a graphic designer and photographer for luxury and fashion brands, she truly launched her artistic career in 2018 with Les Amazones. This ambitious project, bringing together over 200 participants, presents a powerful and multifaceted portrait of 21st-century women. It has been exhibited in both France and Poland, affirming her commitment to female representation and contemporary social issues.
Travel is at the heart of her artistic approach. Through her photographic series, she captures the raw power of natural elements and their transformations. In Chaos (2024), created in Canada, she highlights the immense force of waterfalls while emphasizing the fragility of ecological balance. In En Suspension, photographed on the Soufrière volcano, she invites the viewer into a dreamlike and post-apocalyptic contemplation of the landscape. Some of these images have evolved into a luminous installation paying tribute to lost forests.
A proponent of experimental photography, Anna March explores unconventional printing and display techniques, turning her exhibition spaces into immersive experiences. Her work extends beyond photography; she incorporates video and installation to enrich her artistic universe, using diverse media and sensory devices.
Winner of the Photography Prize at the Bois-Colombes Art Salon in 2022 with her TransFiguration series, she exhibits regularly in France and internationally. Her work has been showcased in prestigious venues such as the Grand Palais, the Salon d’Automne, the Venice Biennale Off, as well as in Shanghai, Washington, Tahiti, Gdansk, and Rome. In 2018, she illustrated The Parts of the Inner World, a poetry collection published in Poland, featuring two young poets born with disabilities.
She is also the creator of two art films, Another World (2021) and Super Nova (2022), in which she stages herself within a universe inspired by her own photography. These works extend her artistic engagement by blending visual poetry with reflections on the transformations of the contemporary world.
Her inspirations range from contemporary artists such as Bill Viola, Christian Boltanski, and Giuseppe Penone to classical painters like Caravaggio, Botticelli, and Rubens. Drawing from these influences, she develops a unique visual approach, playing with contrasts between past and present, material and light.
Through her creations, Anna March seeks to raise environmental awareness and question our relationship with the world. Her work, combining aesthetics and activism, invites viewers to deeply reflect on the fragile beauty of our planet and the urgent need to protect it.
