About
Of Polish origin, Anna Marchlewska is a plastic artist and photographer living and working in Paris. She graduated from the Beaux-Arts in Paris and made a mark by launching the photographic project "Les Amazones, portrait of women of the 21st century" in 2014, bringing together more than 200 participants, which has been the subject of several exhibitions in France and Poland.
Since 2018, she regularly exhibits her photo series, such as "IdéElle," "EvaNaissance," or "En Suspension," notably at the Salon Comparaisons (Grand Palais), Salon d’Automne, the Venice Biennale Off, Tahiti, and the United States.
The artist is also the creator of two art films: "Another World" and "Super Nova," produced in 2021 and 2022, where she stages herself in a universe inspired by her own photos. Through her works, Anna Marchlewska calls for awareness in the face of climate change.
She received the Photography Prize at the Salon Artistique de Bois-Colombes in December 2022, with the series "TransFiguration."
Being very receptive to contemporary art, she draws references from artists such as Bill Viola, Christian Boltanski, Giuseppe Penone, or Bettina Rheims. She also seeks inspiration from great classical painters like Caravaggio, Rubens, Michelangelo, or Botticelli for composition and representation of the body.
Femininity, mythology, religion, science, ecological consciousness, and the relationship with nature are currently her main subjects of artistic research. Attracted to personal awakening techniques and spirituality, she is interested in shamanism, meditation, energies, and the power of the mind. Her sensory imagination is complemented by her interest in modern science, technology, and discoveries. As a proponent of experimental photography, she aims to surprise the observer by using unconventional printing and hanging techniques. Her exhibition spaces become immersive through artistic installations.
